November is the wettest month in The Netherlands, but it’s not some rain which is going to stop you from having a good time here! Let’s discover 5 things to do together during a rainy day.

Dive into the culture

In Amsterdam there are more than 100 museums and galleries to discover. Do you prefer contemporary, modern or even classical art? You’ll find the perfect museum of your taste. Definitely.

If you want to be sure to be protected from the rain the entire day you should definitely visit the Rijksmuseum, the biggest museum in town!

Address: Museumstraat 1, 1071 XX Amsterdam.

Spend the day at De Hallen

De Hallen used to be a tram depot and it has become one of the most popular hotspots of the city. You’ll find something to do (and stay dry) all day! Do you want to see a movie? De Filmhallen is the largest independent movie theater of The Netherlands. Do you want to buy clothing or jewellery? Several independent outlets will fulfill your closet. After all of that you must have become hungry! De Food Hallen is a huge indoor food market where you can find every kind of food (burgers and other kinds of meats, Vietnamese food, dim sum, bitterballen, seafood, pizza, sushi and even a hummus bar). Is rain an issue for you? Not anymore!

Enjoy indoor markets

Various indoor markets are held around the city allowing you to be dry and to find some vintage and local treasures. Every two weeks you have the IJ-Hallen at NDSM Wharf for exemple. Amsterdam Roest also hosts some indoor markets, you’ll have to check the agenda. In Westergasfabriek every third weekend of the month host a food truck markets. You will find the perfect market which will make you forget about the weather!

NDSM Wharf: NDSM-Plein, 1033WB Amsterdam
Amsterdam Roest: Jacob Bontiusplaats 1, 1018 LL Amsterdam
Westergasfabriek: Pazzanistraat 33, 1014 DB Amsterdam

Take a canal cruise

You want to discover the city but it’s raining all the time? Why don't you visit a museum? Or enjoy a canal cruise? Most of the boats are closed with glass preventing you from becoming wet and you’ll discover Amsterdam under the best perspective. Definitely a recommendation from us, because that's the best view you've seen Amsterdam.

We recommend the Lovers canal cruise boat on which you can hop on close to Anne Frank House, only 5 minutes walking from the Hotel. Take an umbrella and enjoy Amsterdam from the water!

Read a book with a view

Close to Centraal Station you’ll find the OBA, the Amsterdam library. This building consists of 10 floors meaning there's a lot to do! As every library there are books, magazines and newspaper to read while resting on a nice chair. There are also exhibitions and a kids area in the building. But the best part is the last floor where you have a wonderful view of the city! OBA is the best place to spend a nice rainy day.
